Shiny Vivid Vases

Vivid Vases is a stamp set I have had my eye on ages now and when it arrived I knew exactly what I had planned for it.

A vivid title deserved some vivid colour treatment.   So I stamped and heat embossed the image in Black Stampin' Emboss powder onto some Whisper White cardstock, and then selected an array of colours from my Stampin' Write marker pens with which to colour it.   Tempting Turquoise, the colour of one of the vases is the colour of the card base.

The card fits a standard C6 envelope so is 11 1/4 x 4 1/8 inch scored at 5 7/8 inches.

I decided to use my Elegant Dots embossing folder to give my card some texture.

I die cut the stamped image with my Lots of Labels Framelits and also die cut a black frame for it.  I adhered the frame to the die cut stamped image and then brought out my Crystal Effects which was very carefully applied  to each of the vases and left to set.  Once dry this was layered onto the card base.

I have to say, I rather like the end result - a set of glossy vivid vases !!

Pretty Papers - Simple Cards

Although I may not be the biggest fan of using decorative papers for cards, I do believe that sometimes just keeping it simple and letting papers speak for themselves really works !

Here are two examples of pretty cards made using Designer Series Paper stacks in subtle colourways, together with gorgeous die cuts, punches, cardstock, inks and embellishments.

The two colours featured here are Blushing Bride layerd on Whisper White and Mint Macaron layered on Very Vanilla.   The Blushing Bride DSP is from the Love Blossom Designer Series Paper Stack and the Mint Macaron DSP comes from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack.   Each card also features layered framelits,  the pink being Lots of Labels Framelits and the Mint Macaron being Deco Labels Framelits.

Sentiments are from Cottage Greetings and the hostess set A Whole Lot of Lovely.  A little co-ordinating ribbon for the the second card and some leafy details from the Bird Builder Punch for the pink number together with little flowers from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack illustrate just how easy it is to create a nicely co-ordinated card with very little stamping.

Hope you like them.  Thank you for stopping by today.

Get Well Wishes for a lovely friend

I came across a Pin on Pinterest by Laura Kant which has inspired my card for you today.

http://laurascreativemoments.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/nog-een-keer-de-swallowtail.html

I have a lovely friend in need of some Get Well Wishes - so using three stamp sets, Swallowtail, Hopeful Thoughts and Summer Silhouettes, this is my take on Laura's beautiful idea.

I believe that the Swallowtail Butterfly does all the talking here - and there is not really much more for me to add, other than thanking you for stopping by today.

Come Fly With Me .... lets fly, lets fly away !!

So ....my lovely OH has a birthday coming up in April.  Now he hates Social Media and never ever reads my Blog so I am safe to share this here and now.

I tried a watercolour technique for the first time, by loading up my huge acrylic block with shades of Tempting Turquoise, Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo, Gumball Green and Old Olive using my Stampin' Write Marker Pens and spritzed with my Stampin' Spritzer.  I then applied this to a piece of watercolour paper and was left with a gorgeous colour washed background.    The technique is demonstrated
here:

I left this to dry and then stamped on some trees to create a little forest using my gorgeous set Lovely as a Tree.

The Sky is the Limit has this fantastic image of a biplane - perfect for masculine cards which I stamped in Basic Gray.  This Sale-A-Bration stamp was only available until 19 February so I am really pleased I snapped one up.  However ...... I do believe a few do remain available as a few of my fellow demos have managed to get their hands on them last week !!

The bold sentiment is from the Hostess Set Happy Birthday, Everyone.

Finally I adhered the finished piece onto Black and Cherry Cobbler layers, adding a touch of striped Cherry Cobbler crossgrain ribbon  and applied them to a 5 1/2 square card base in Whisper White.

Well, I hope you like this little experiment of mine.   Its definitely a technique I will be using again.

Thank you for stopping by today and ...................happy crafting !!!
