Soft and Smokey Sophistication

This Blog post has now been updated with my You Tube tutorial demonstrating how to create this pretty card (see below).

I love soft neutral shades and was inspired by a beautiful card on Pinterest to make this one:-

I opted to use Smokey Slate card stock which I really do love

The card which inspired me used this layout but featured real lace down the centre.  I decided to try and recreate it but chose to use heat embossing for the lacy detail in my version.  So the pretty lace panel was stamped and heat embossed in Whisper White Stampin' Emboss powder using the stamp set Grateful Bunch.   I also used my set Papillon Potpourri for the beautiful butterflies which were punched using the Bitty Butterfly and Elegant Butterfly punches. These were further embellished with some decorative pearls.  That is what I love about Stampin' Up! products - co-ordinating stamps and punches give cards such a professional touch.

I ran some Silver Satin Ribbon through the centre of the card and finished with a neat little bow (which is something of a miracle for me !!).

Well actually - I didn't finish it there.  I don't know about you, but sometimes I feel that after creating a little mini masterpiece, I then go an spoil it on the inside with my untidy handwriting.  Chicken scratch !!! That is how a former teacher once referred to it.  So as this is a note card, which is why I have left it free of any sentiment on the front, I made a cute little envelope using the Envelope Punch Board for the inside to hide away my untidy missive to my friend.

The inside layer of Whisper White cardstock has been stamped with a motif from the set First Sight and the sentiment "Just a Note" comes from the set Picture Perfect.

  1. Oh Linda, what a beautiful card, it is so pretty and elegant. And you have come up with a great idea inside the card, for those of us who are unhappy with our handwriting - I too feel I spoil the inside of my cards - so I am loving this idea! Gorgeous card, I love it!!! Karen x
