2017 Desk Calendar with Inspirational Quotes for each Month

Some of you might know (as I haven't exactly been quiet about it!) that I am the proud owner of the Heidi Swapp Minc foiling applicator.   And I just love it !

Having it has given me the scope to stretch myself and step out of my comfort zone.  I have the freedom to customise and personalise projects just as I want them.  I find that very liberating.

I invested in a Zutter binder a good few years ago, and it has mostly sat collecting dust, and I wanted to put that to good use also.

My daily Pinterest searches have helped me to acquire a rather large collection of inspirational and motivating quotes and I was hoping to incorporate them into something useful, practical and actually quite pretty.

So this is what I came up with :-

It's my very own unique desk calendar.  I was taken with the message on the cover.  I truly hope that 2017 does become my year to sparkle - especially after 2016 which has been, in all honesty, pretty miserable.  There have been various personal and health issues which I would never wish to bore you with.  Plus - just look at all those wonderful talented stars of stage and screen who have departed, some really rather too soon.

So, looking upwards and onwards, each page of my calendar gives me some thought provoking quotes to digest.   It's a world away from my usual card and box projects, but I really did have fun creating it and using the fabulous Minc to foil each page.   Its glitzy and gold and sparkles - just as I hope 2017 does for me and all my family and friends near and far.

Thanks for stopping by today - and I hope you like today's sparkly project.

Bye for now.

Happy Birthday Dan ! A Tagul Cloud Foiled Birthday Card

This is an almost Stampin' Up! free zone today !    Apart from the fact that I used Stampin' Up! Very Vanilla card stock, Copper Foil Sheets and copper thread.

My daughter's boyfriend celebrated his birthday at the weekend.  I find masculine cards notoriously difficult to master.

Anyway, I am really enjoying my new found love of foiling with the Heidi Swapp Minc machine.  One of the online groups I have joined shared a link to an app called Tagul a couple of weeks ago.  Its brilliant - and I decided to use it to create a Tagul cloud in the shape of a birthday present and added lots of personalised sentiments.

This is the result:-

I used some Rose Gold Foil on Very Vanilla cardstock and it foiled beautifully.

A couple of weeks ago my daughter Abby was taken very poorly.  This is the Tagul Cloud Get Well card I created for her using the same app:

This time I used Teal Foil on Stampin' Up Pool Party card stock and layered it onto Bermuda Bay cardstock and a Whisper White base.

Its really very difficult to take a decent photo of a foiled card, but I hope these provide a good indication of what can be achieved.

Here is a link for Tagul:-

Word of warning though - you could get hooked like me !!!!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Bye for now.

3 Inch Cubed Box with Drawer and Video !

Last year I did a tutorial for a 2 1/2 inch Gift Box with Drawer.  It proved to be very popular.

So with that in mind, I have upsized the template to create a 3 inch cube which is a really good size.

I used Basic Black card stock and papers from the Candy Cane Lane Designer Series 12 x 12 pack.  I had fun decoupaging the cute little houses onto the panels.  I do love the nordic theme of these papers.

Anyway, I will keep it brief today and hope you like my box and this accompanying video tutorial:

Off for a special meal later today and maybe a spot of Christmas shopping !  Have a great day whatever you are doing and thank you for stopping by today.

Super Sturdy Business Card Holders

For today's project - I took a fabulous original design for Business Card Holders by Sam at Pootles Papercraft, and adapted it.

My Business Card Holders have reinforced (double thickness) sides which makes them really very robust.

I chose to make one using pretty 12 x 12 Designer Series Papers in the Brights collection.  I also wanted to experiment with something a little more formal and personalised, showing my name and Blog address, so I created a post card sized document in Microsoft Word, laser printed it onto a piece of Whisper White card stock, which I then ran through my Heidi Swapp Minc foiling machine and then cut to size.

I am thrilled with both designs - and hope to be using them in the New Year at various events.

This is my video tutorial - hope you like it :-

Thanks for popping by today.

Bye for now !

Ho Ho Ho Revisited

I thought that for people who are new to my Blog that it might be nice to revisit this project and video which I made last year.

Unfortunately most of the punches I used for this project are now sadly retired.  But if you are a creative crafter, it's easy and fun to improvise and make do with the tools you have to create your own version of Santa.  So I do hope that if you have not seen this before, you like it and maybe perhaps have a go.   It is an Envelope Punch Board project.

Thank you for stopping by.

A personalised Happy Penned & Painted Birthday to my Sister !

I have been lucky to receive some lovely new stamp sets from my team leader as a reward for my recruiting and leadership achievements during the last Stampin' Up! year which ended at the end of September.

Amongst them is the gorgeous Penned & Painted Photopolymer stamp set, which is a two step stamping set.  Its my sister's birthday today and I wanted to do a personalised card for her incoporating some foiling.   So, I used a layer of Pink Pirouette card stock and stamped on the beautiful petals and leaves using Blushing Bride for the Flowers and Pear Pizzazz for the leaves.

I just kept it very simple.

I found a lovely quote by the author Marion Garrett about sisters and decided to incorporate it, as the sentiment really does mean something special to me.   I also added my own personalised Happy Birthday message. I ran the top layer through my gorgeous new Minc foiling toy.

I feel  a sense of  creative freedom in being able to add things to a card which mean something personally to me and also to my recipients, and have found that laser printing and then foiling my own sentiments is so liberating.  My cards are now able to say exactly what I want them to say.

I added a layer of Gold card and adhered to a base layer of thick Whisper White cardstock.

I am so happy with this pretty personalised and feminine card - I hope you like it too.  More importantly - I hope Annie likes it

Happy Birthday Sis !!

Whilst I was creating this card, hubby made a request for one for a poorly work colleague.  Again, I was able to come up with a nicely personalised Get Well Card using the same stamp set - and "yes" ....that is how she spells her name.

Thanks for stopping by.

Bye for now.

Bella & Friends Notelets Boxed Set

There is now so much talk of Christmas that I thought it would be nice to create a project that in no way relates to Christmas.

We all need cards for different occasions and I decided to put together a little set of four co-ordinating cards using the very cute Bella & Friends stamp set set and also used some sentiments from my Teeny Tiny Sentiments.

I adore the Bella & Friends stamp set.  It puts me in mind of my own dear little dog Lenny.  Lenny is now 15 years old and still as cute as a button, although sadly age has not been kind.  He is completely deaf, almost totally blind now and extremely arthritic.

But I like to think of the mischevious little chap that wagged his way into my life all those years ago. As a pup he had the same cuteness as the little dog featured in this adoreable stamp set.

So, these are the four little cards I created for my boxed set.

I created layers of colour co-ordinating card stock and Designer Series Papers using colours from the Brights and the Subtles collections.  I stamped the images in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and heat embossed the images using some clear Stamp n Emboss powder to create the shiny little dog. I then coloured the focal point using my Stampin! Write marker pens and die cut the toppers using my Layering Ovals Framelits Dies.  The toppers were adhered over some ribbon onto the layered base using Dimensionals to give a little height to the focal point.

Then I stuck the collective layers onto cards from the Note Cards and Envelopes packs in Whisper White.

Here are the dimensions for the little box which is made using thick Whisper White cardstock:-

Long side score @ 1, 4 3/4", 5 3/4", 9 1/2" inches

Short side score @ 1/2, 1 1/2", 6 3/4" and 7 3/4" inches

Top layers measure :  4 3/4" x 3 1/4" inches
                                   4 1/2" x 3 1/8" inches
                                   4 1/4" x 2 7/8" inches

And before I love you and leave you, here is a photo of my dear little Lenny in happy and healthier times :-

Thank you for stopping by today - hope you like this little project and my gorgeous little boy.

Bye for now.
