I thought I would drop in and tell your all about a fantastic workshop I attended at the weekend.
The workshop was great fun and run by Martine Smith and Tracey Holt of Oyster Stamps.
I had seen it being advertised online and having long been a fan of the fantastically glamourous style of cards that Martine specialises in, I knew I was just going to have to attend. I messaged a couple of my lovely online crafty friends and was really delighted when they too said they would be very interested. It was really exciting, because we knew this would be a great opportunity to finally meet each other in person and participate and doing something we all love. Not only that, I found myself sat beside a fabulous lady who I have not seen since my school days !! What a small world.
The workshop took place in a lovely village hall in West Wittering and was very well attended. There was an endless supply of gorgeous homemade cakes and Martine managed to soldier on throughout the day, despite having a really nasty cold.
We were provided with all the tools to enable us to craft some beautiful flowers. It was a nice opportunity for me to use some non-SU products. However, I did take along my beloved Pool Party inkpad. We heat embossed the flowers onto Velum and on the reverse sponged on some colour. They were die cut, and Martine then demonstrated how to create and shape the gorgeous flowers.
We were given two different projects and as I didn't manage to complete either of mine, I brought them home to add some finishing touches. So out came my Large Numbers Thinlit Dies (the recipient of this card is going to be 80 years young very shortly) and Pool Party cardstock. I added some vine leaves die cut in Pool Party card stock too.
As the card is for a very special birthday (the lady in question is having a Surprise Birthday party), I wanted to make it extra special. So I created the beautiful hat pin and added a pretty bow as a focal point for the card. The beauty of this is that she will get to keep the hat pin as a memento of what I hope will be a special day for her.
I am selling these hat pins in packs of three. Details can be found by clicking on the tab along the top of this page entitled "Purchase My Decorative Hat Pins". Please email me at Linda@papercraftwithcrafty.co.uk or visit my Etsy Shop where you will also find them on sale too https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/467016770/hat-pins-for-your-cardmaking-projects?ref=shop_home_active_1
So all in all, I had a really fabulous weekend working alongside lots of very talented crafters. Special thanks to Martine, Tracey, June, Linda and Noreen. It was so nice to meet you all.
Hate to say it, but I believe I may have brought home a little bit more than I bargained for ........I think I have the start of nasty cold.
Anyway - thank you for dropping by today. I do hope you will feel inspired by my project.
