I love making my own gift boxes and Christmas is the perfect excuse for really going to town and crafting up a storm.
Lately I have found that the way I shop for gifts has changed quite drastically. It was usual in the past to ask what someone might want and go search the shops for it. But now with the rise of online shopping and the plethora of Gift Cards from the likes of Amazon, I have found that people prefer to receive Gift Cards and choose their own gifts.
So isn't it great that Trim Your Stocking Thinlits Dies has a little Pillow Box Die which is the perfect size to hold Gift Cards. You can simply run a couple of pieces of card stock through your Big Shot and you have the template for a basic Pillow Box.Well, I have some very girly girls in my family, who just love pink and sparkly !! So here is a little Gift Card holder I made yesterday.
I used Versamark, Heat & Stick and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter on a couple of pieces of Powder Pink card stock to give myself a gorgeous pink twinkling base from which to die cut my Pillow Box template some snowflakes, tags and a cute little heart. Please note that Heat & Stick is no longer available from Stampin' Up!, but Ranger sell a Sticky Embossing Powder which serves the same purpose as Heat & Stick.
This series of photos shows each stage

I cut away the two side strips on the sparkly card to make the box easier to assemble |
