I am not going to lie. I have an awful lot to learn about colouring with these. What I will say is that I have found that they do blend beautifully. I do think that perhaps I am a little heavy handed, which may account for the fact that I have found I have a little trouble with the ink bleeding on the edges. You can use the Color Lifter to erase some of the bleed, but I actually liked the slightly distressed look that I got here.
I had a little colouring session on some Shimmery White Card Stock, stamping out some images from the Pretty Kitty stamp set with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I die cut each of my coloured images using the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies and made myself a little set of 3 x 3 greetings cards.
Working with the pens above, Smokey Slate (Dark) Crumb Cake (Light and Dark), Bermuda Bay (Light and Dark) and Pink Pirouette (Dark) plus the Colour Lifter I coloured in this little chap.
I applied Dark Smokey Slate to the areas indicated
Next I added Dark Crumb Cake over the Smokey Slate
Then I simply used the Light Crumb Cake Blends Pen to pull the colour from around the edge and blend towards the middle, giving subtle depths of shading where I wanted it. I used Dark and Light Bermuda Bay plus some Color Lifter on the bow and Dark Pink Pirouette on the ears and nose.
I really do need more practice. I shall be working on Thick Whisper White card stock this week, trying to improve. But as the saying goes - "practice makes perfect !"
I found this video from Stampin' Up! really useful before I put pen to paper :-
Thanks for stopping by today. I do hope you will pop back again.
Have a lovely lazy Sunday - I intend to !
Bye for now.
