Reverse Die Impressions with Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies

I know I have said it before - but I am a massive fan of the wonderful and prolific cardmaker and inspirational designer that is Jennifer McGuire.

I took inspiration from yet another of her wonderful YouTube tutorials to make this sweet little card and I had great fun in doing so !

It's brilliant when the tools we purchase with one purpose in mind, i.e. die-cutting can be utilised for another purpose which we hadn't ever intended.

As soon as I saw her video for Reverse Die Impressions, I knew I had to give it a go.   The key to this technique is to remember that your die needs to be a symmetrical one.  So for this purpose, the Bold Butterfly Framelits were ideal.

After I had embossed mine, I decided to add a watercolour wash.

Then I die cut an intricate butterfly with my Butterflies Thinlits dies.

I love how this turned out.  Its a great technique which I will be revisiting as my head is now buzzing with ideas.

That's my little offering for today.  Hope you feel inspired to have a go too.

Thanks for stopping by.

Ciao for now,

  1. Linda, I too love to watch Jennifer McGuire at her best. I love this impression/embossing techniques with dies (stretching the use of our dies). Did you use watercoloring paper Linda as it is not listed in your resource list? Butterflies make beautiful cards but this technique takes this card to another level - it is full of class. Happy New Year. :O)
