Lovely Friends and Lots of Love with a Little Wink of Stella & an Absent Mojo !

We all get those days - don't we ?   Days when you have set yourself some time aside to sit and immerse yourselves in some crafty time ........ and the old "mojo" decides to go AWOL.

I had a day just like that yesterday.  I tried some watercolouring, the "baby wipe technique", blending, fussy cutting to within an inch of my life, kissing (stamp kissing !!) ..... and I hated absolutely everything I came up with !   My bin was rather full with discarded projects by the end of it all. Pinterest didn't even help to inspire me and that is saying something.

So later  .... much later in the afternoon ....... I got out two stamp sets and determined not to be defeated, I came up with this card.

I loaded up the flower and leaf stamps with ink and did the stamp off technique, stamping off twice before stamping onto my Whisper White layer.  This gave a nice faded look to my flowers and leaves.  Then I took a Blender Pen and coloured over each stamped image which smudged the light stamping.  I had used Melon Mambo and I found that applying the Blender Pen changed the colour slightly into more of a subtle pinky/red tone which did look rather delicate and pretty.   I added some yellow and crumb cake detail to the centre of each flower.

Next, I applied clear Wink of Stella Glitter over each image to give a gorgeous shimmer.

This provided the perfect background for the fabulous bold sentiment, stamped in black.

My card base is made to fit a standard C6 envelope, so is cut at 8 1/2" x 6" inches and scored at 4 1/4" inches on the long side.

So after a long old day fiddling about and getting frustrated and after much chocolate - an essential for helping to stoke those creative juices - some like a coffee  fix, but I like my chocolate, and have a waistline which bears testament to that!! ..... I guess I was happy that I finally had something I rather liked.

Hope you like it too.   Thanks for looking.  I hope you will pop back again.

  1. Linda, sorry to hear that you had a bad day creatively. I sometimes think it is because we think to hard about a particular project and instead should go for the easier cleaner look on a project. I love what you did with this image and sentiment. It is clean, simple and elegant. What more do you want out of a card? Thank you for sharing it with us crafters. :O)
