Cute Gable Style Gift Box With Straw Handle

It seems like ages since I shared a box project.

I have spent the last month researching products from different paper craft brands and have been having a blast revamping my craft stash with lots of new "toys".   It was during my quest for pretty papers that I discovered Chloe Endean.  A lovely crafty friend had recommended her brand to me and I am so glad she did.  Thanks June !

I have to say that the quality of the papers in the Raspberry Luxury Foiled 8 x 8 inch Paper Pad is just fabulous and the designs are gorgeous.  I can say hand on heart that there is not one design that I do not like.  They are all pretty stunning.  They made putting together today's little gift box an absolute treat.

I have lived in a little Stampin' Up! bubble for the last six years and I now find I am really like a little kid in a candy shop with my pick of anything that grabs my fancy.

I did have to invest in a 1/4 inch handheld punch for this project.  The quarter inch hole will securely hold the straw handle in place.   Any larger, it will simply fall out and any smaller, you will never fit one through.  I used paper straws for my project (environmentally friendly) and having invested in several packs in different designs, they all seem to be of a standard diameter which fit securely in place through a 1/4 inch hole.  I bought my punch relatively cheaply from Amazon, (see affiliated link below in the product summary below).

I love the Summer Blooms stamp set and coordinating dies I used too.  They are modern and contemporary and just very pretty.   I am a big Chloe fan !   I bought my Chloe products from Craft Stash (where you can get 20% off your very first order).   Craft Stash do run some great promotions.  They ship to the UK, Europe and USA mainland.

I do hope you like this of box design and feel inspired to have a go at making one.  The boxes are nice and easy, and although they probably look like they could be complicated, I promise you they are not at all.  I have made a step by step video tutorial, so make yourself a brew and sit back and relax.  Having been suitably refreshed, I hope you will then scamper off to your happy little craft space and make one yourself !!

I originally saw this style of box demonstrated on YouTube by Crafty LittleMissK.  She made a little cubed version.  I decided to elongate the design and this little gift box is a good size for lots of little treats.  It measures 2" inches high, 2" inches wide and 4-3/8" inches long, and is pretty sturdy.   How sturdy your box is will depend on the quality and weight of the card stock that you use.  I used Crafter's Companion Centura Pearl card stock, and at 300 gsm it is just wonderful to work with.  I bought a pack in assorted pastel colours (see affiliated link in the product summary below).

Oh, by the way ....... remember I recently revamped my little craft space? ......... Well I shall be doing so yet again.   My daughter recently bought her own place and I am inheriting her bedroom and turning it into my new craft den !!   Its about 12 x 9 feet and I am so excited.  Any tips, recommendations and advice will be gratefully received.

Well that's it from me for today.

Bye for now and ................."Happy Crafting Everyone!"

Linda xxx

  1. Loved this video tutorial Linda, and for making the time to give step by step instructions and the links to products. Am looking for a larger 12x12" board, so will look at your link. Also love the papers, especially as they are 8x8". xx

    1. I tried to reply to this via mobile phone but it failed. Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. I love the Martha Stewart Board. You can make envelopes with it too. Chloes Raspberry Luxury Foiled papers are beautiful and I agree about the size. Much more versatile than 6x6 inch pads.
