Tonic Studio's new Flora Background Stamp - Emboss Resist Technique

I have recently been busy investing in some new stamps and giving my crafty stash a complete overhaul.   It has been a case of "out with the old - and in with the new".

Anyway to cut a long story short ....I discovered Tonic !!  I was lucky that the launch of their gorgeous new Garden Party suite came about just I was starting to look around for new stamps.  I have always loved floral stamps and this, frankly, huge Flora Background stamp was right up my alley.  It measures a whopping 6"x8" inches (A5), and I see huge crafting potential for it.

For today's card, I just kept it very very simple.   I used my Wow Opaque Bright White embossing powder and stamped and heat embossed the large floral panel onto white card stock.  Then I selected some Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks for my blended background, using a blending tool to merge my colour palette.  The colours I used were Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry and Scattered Straw.

I do love the Distress Oxides inks because they are basically hybrids, which contain mainly pigment ink, but also some die ink.  This means they begin to oxidize as soon as you use them, leaving a chalky looking, dense and opaque finish.  Distress inks on the other hand are die inks and therefore have a transparency, making them much brighter.  That is a little lesson I have learned recently and I thought I would share it in case you were wondering about the difference between Distress and Distress Oxides.

I decided to revisit the Eclipse technique for today's design, by die-cutting the hearts from my panel.  I also die cut several extra hearts in both sizes, stacking them to add some great dimension.  I finished with a simple bright white sentiment heat embossed on black card stock.

I love the way it turned out.

I do offer affiliated links to the products I have used and by clicking on the promotional photos below, you will be taken to the online stores for full details of the products. If you order using my links then I will earn a small commission.

Tonic do free shipping for orders over £30 and they have also recently introduced a payment plan, enabling you to spread the cost of your orders, should you wish to do so.

Thank you for stopping by and please pop back.

Happy crafting everybody and happy Sunday !
