Hello Card - Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Spray, Foiled Dies and a Little Cosmic Shimmer

Have you had a play with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Sprays yet?

Well I did yesterday and I had a great time.  I actually bought these as a Christmas Present to myself last year and they have sat patiently on my shelf waiting to be used.

I used watercolour card and selected the following colour palette:-

Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon and Peeled Paint.

I started by simply applying a mist in each colour onto my card.   I helped that dry with my heat tool.   I applied further applications of each colour until I was happy with the coverage.   Next, I used my spritzer to apply some water drops over the entire panel and then lifted the water by pressing on a paper towel and then removing it.   This lifted the colour where the drops had been.   Then, I unscrewed each bottle and flicked some drops of colour over the card using the base of the spray applicator.  I allowed the colour to settle before dabbing the excess away.  This gave me splatters of colour which created great dimension.

Not content with that, I then used my Cosmic Shimmer Sparkle Snow Shaker by tapping some onto an acrylic block, spritzing with water and then sweeping the mix across my card with a fairly wide watercolour brush.   This left a subtle shimmer across the whole panel.

Once the whole thing was completely dry I used my Candlewick Grand Pocket die from Spellbinders and foiled the design directly onto my coloured panel.   It really does look ever so pretty in "real life" and I am not sure that my camera catches it that well.

I die cut the sentiment using my Altenew "Fancy Hello" die in silver glitter card  and also navy cardstock to create a shadow, and added a few silver gems to finish.  I applied to a 5x5 navy card base and added a white layer to outline the top panel.

I love how this turned out.   The Distress Oxide Sprays are lovely to use, so if you have not tried them, I can highly recommend them.  There are loads of videos showing creative ways to use them on YouTube.

Well thanks for looking, and please do pop back.

Ciao for now and ............................"happy crafting everybody!"

  1. Love this card - different techniques used on one card, but it's so worth it. Stunning creation, as always.
